As you see, the incompatibility of MTS files exists among different video players, video editing software or video sharing site except for few ones. YouTube is one video sharing website that can’t support MTS files well. This is article will teach you how to change MTS to YouTube friendly format(in proper settings as well), so that you can upload MTS clips to YouTube with ease.

Indeed, MTS files aren't a common format that people use to share video online, so it only makes sense that YouTube didn't put full support for it. It's always best to have a little video formatting skill when trying to use YouTube, so you can try a variety of file types until you find the perfect one to use. Base on my own experience, FLV, AVI are YouTube most compatible format.

In order to add MTS to YouTube, the first thing you need do is to convert MTS to YouTube supported FLV/AVI video formats, and then cut the video into individual clips and put them onto YouTube. Indeed, certain excellent MTS to YouTube software like Brorsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac can help you do that.

With this MTS converter utility, you can resolve two basic issues: Convert MTS video to regular .AVI/.FLV compatible for YouTube; divide MTS files into shorter 15 min sections( YouTube has a 15 min limit if you have no account.) And then upload the formatted videos to YouTube form computer. If you are working on Windows, please get Brorsoft MTS Converter. Now I share the step-by-step solution converting/uploading MTS videos to YouTube.

Step 1. Import MTS files

Once you run the program, click “Add Video” button to load your source MTS files. When the MTS files are imported, you can view the videos from the Preview window. Simply select an item and click the “Play” button. When the video is playing, you are allowed to take snapshoot.

Step 2. Select output format

Click Format bar to select an output format. To share your MTS footage on YouTube, .avi, .flv format from Common Video are all the proper formats. You can also press the Settings button to adjust the video size, bitrate, frame rate, audio sample rate, etc to optimize the quality.

Step 3. Edit/Split MTS videos

If the video clips you’ve trimmed are still longer than 15 minutes, you can click the Split icon in the main interface, and you can cut your files according to time length and file size.

Step 4. Start the conversion

Click “Convert” button to start encoding MTS video to AVI/FLV for uploading to YouTube. After the conversion, click “Open” button to get the exported files and then upload the converted MTS files into YouTube for sharing with your friends, families, and fans.

Editor’s Notes: We found some guys complained the "distortion" when uploading MTS to YouTube. Well it might depend on what you exactly mean by "distortion". Perhaps it's not your file type at all, but rather interlacing that may be the problem. Does this "distortion" perhaps look like the picture has a massive amount of horizontal lines through it every half-second, especially when there's a lot of movement? If so, this MTS to YouTube Converter can be your best help. Click Edit bar and it allows you to deinterlace MTS clips so that you can remove the interlacing artifacts for better enjoyment.

Sony FS7 4K Shooting to FCP 7-Edit Sony PXW-FS7 XAVC video in Final Cut Pro 7/X with ProRes mov

Have some videos shot with a Sony PXW-FS7, but Final Cut Pro 7 does not recognize the XAVC format. If so, follow the easy workaround here to solve Sony FS7 to FCP 7/X issues.
The PXW-FS7 has a Super 35 CMOS sensor, E-mount (which is great as you can use an adapter like Metabones for your EF lenses for example), and the big thing of course is that it shoots 4K UHD (3840×2160) internally on the very robust Sony XAVC codec, which uses a true 10-bit 422 codec color sampling. The camera can do 1080p up to 180fps internally, which is a huge deal. We’ve been told this is going to be continuous and not in burst mode as in the FS700, which contrary to the fact, is not being discontinued. The PXW-FS7 will be getting 4K DCI (4096×2160) as a firmware update in early 2015.

Can I load Sony FS7 4K footage into FCP X on Mac? If you are FS7 users, maybe you have this question. The answer is "No". Don't worry about this. This guide will show you two ways to import and edit Sony FS7 XAVC recordings in FCP X.

The quick workaround is to use the easy-to-use yet professional app Brorsoft Video Converter for Mac which can be used as the best 4K video converter under OS X Mavericks(10.9), Mountain Lion (10.8), Lion (10.7), Snow Leopard (10.6), Leopard (10.5). With it, you can effortlessly transcode XAVC and XAVC-S to ProRes for Final Cut Pro 6/7/X as well as Apple InterMediate Codec for iMovie, DNxHD for Avid Media Composer, MPEG-2 for Adobe Premiere Pro.
Note: If you are also a FCP X user, before you try to do the conversion, don’t forget to make sure that you have installed the Apple ProRes Codec manually.

Now learn how to transcode Sony FS7 XAVC to ProRes MOV in detail.

How to Open Sony PXW-FS7 XAVC videos in FCP 7

Step 1: Launch the Sony XAVC to FCP Converter. Click "Add" icon to load video files from Sony PXW-FS7 or directly drag&drop the files into file list.

Step 2: Click the "Format" bar and select Final Cut Pro> Apple ProRes 422(*.mov) as output format, which should work with FCP 7 perfectly.

Tip: If you wanna, you can go to the "Settings" page to customize proper video/audio parameters including Video size, bitrate and fame rate and more.

Summary: Read this guide to learn how to convert and transcode MTS file to Apple ProRes video, which ensures the best results when using MTS in FCP X/7/6.

As we know, MTS is one of the most popular camcorder formats, but the incompatibility of AVCHD .mts files exists among different camcorder manufacturers. Mostly, the MTS footage is encoded with H.264/AVC codec which does not work well with video editing software except for few ones. In most cases, you will find it a painful experience to import MTS files into Final Cut Pro(even the latest FCP X) for further editing. In this article, I will share an easy workaround- converting MTS to ProRes on Mac for working with FCP flawlessly.

For most MTS video files, you need an app like Brorsoft MTS Converter for Mac to make MTS footage compatible with Final Cut Pro. This software is fully compatible with all major Mac OS X operating systems like Yosemite(coming soon), Mavericks, Mountain Lion, Lion, and Snow Leopard.

Overall, the program is a professional yet all-in-one MTS conversion tool. With it, you can easily rewrap all AVCHD .mts, m2ts files to ProRes 422, ProRes 422 HQ or ProrES 4444 for using in Final Cut Pro X/7/6. It also provides simple video editing functions for you. Besides, the Mac video converter can convert MTS footage(from JVC, Panasonic, Sony and Cannon) for editing in almost all the editing programs like Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Express, iMovie, Avid MC, Adobe Premiere Pro etc. Just download it and follow the tutorial below to convert MTS to Apple ProRes for FCP X or Final Cut Pro 6/7.

Converting MTS to ProRes for Editing in Final Cut Pro

Step 1: Launch the MTS to ProRes Converter; click "Add" button from main menu to browse your computer hard drive and select the MTS files you want to convert. Or you can easily drag-and-drop files into this application for converting.

Tip a: You can check the “Merge into one” box to merge several .mts video files together for easier editing.

Step 2: Click on the “Format”bar and get the dropdown menu, then move your pointer to choose “Final Cut Pro> Apple PreRes 422″ or “Apple ProRes 422 HQ” or “Apple ProRes 4444″ as the output format.

Tip b: In case the default settings do not fit your requirement, you can click “Settings” button and enter “Profile Settings” panel to adjust video size, bit rate, frame rate, sample rate and audio channels.

Step 3: Click Convert button to start transcoding MTS to Apple ProRes for Final Cut Pro instantly.

Once the MTS to ProRes 422 conversion is done, you can transfer your MTS clips into Final Cut Pro for editing smoothly on Mac with ease.

Editor’s Notes:

1. The most important thing to remember with any digital card format is to copy the entire card, as this will maintain the folder/file structure that a lot of non-linear editing applications need to work with the files.

2. For FCP X users, before you try to do MTS to ProRes conversion, don’t forget to make sure that you have installed the Apple ProRes Codec manually since the FCP X asks users to install it by themselves.
